Two Dead, Three Critically Injured at Drake’s OVO Fest Afterparty in Toronto

A man and a woman are dead after a shooting that occurred during an OVO fest after-party at Muzik in Toronto. The event, which was open to the public, was advertised as “The official OVO fest after-party, hosted by Drake with music by Charlie B.” With doors opening at 10pm, according to local police, the party was winding down when shots rang out around 3:30am.

“At this point we do know for certain that one or two [shootings] were in the nightclub and we believe the others  were outside of that area,” explained Toronto Superintendent Frank Bergen. “It’s the Muzik Nightclub. A well-run event with lots of police officers in and around the area, culminating on a large evening event that occurred over at the OVO Festival.”

One person died on the scene with the second fatality occuring after the victim was transported to the hospital. Both victims were in their 20s and 30s but no other additional information was given. Described as a “sporadic” shooting, it’s safe to assume the shooting was separate from Drake and his camp. “We’re satisfied at this point that the organization involved was doing their best,” Bergen said, “and this did occur at 3:30 this morning as things were shutting down for the evening.”

Anyone still in need of assistance or has new information is encouraged to come forward by calling Homicide, Crime Stoppers or 14 Div. at 416 808 1400.
