With the weather becoming consistently warmer (where we are, at least), it’s only appropriate to select Beenie Man’s classic summer tune “Girls Dem Sugar” as this week’s Flashback Friday. Beenie Man had made a name for himself in Jamaica long before he made a splash on the American charts, and actually created an earlier version of “Girls Dem Sugar” with the same chorus and similar verses which can be found on his 1997 album Reggae Max. However, production by The Neptunes and vocals by Mýa refined the song into an international hit. Whether you’re driving with your windows down or having a barbecue, “Girls Dem Sugar” is a record that always hits.
